February 1934 Passing the Northern Sea Route in one navigation was an ambitious goal and was of great importance for the Soviet Union. Many believed the idea to be a hopless and risky affair. Young and brave polar explorers led by Otto Shmidt truly believe that they would be able to achieve this goal on steam-boat Chelyskin. But this great idea turned into a great tragedy - the vessel was crushed by the ice and sank. Now the crew of Chelyskin has to fight for survival in harsh Arctic conditions.
